This is a survey course on pastoral counseling for persons who are wanting to minister within the church. The course will also explore the basic techniques and approaches of pastoral counseling, along with practice, placing pastoral counseling in the context of congregational ministry. This course includes an Overview of Pastoral Counseling in the Church; Boundary Identification; Cultural Awareness; Congregational Systems; Counseling Contexts and Foundational Skills; Counseling Contexts. Students are encouraged to seek further training and supervision before doing Pastoral Counseling.

Join with presbytery volunteers (committee members, working group members, and others who share their time and talents with the presbytery) and staff for fellowship and training in the work of the presbytery!

You will be invited to fill out a StrengthsFinder inventory prior to the gathering, and you will receive personalized results – Rev. Bruce Reyes-Chow, certified StrengthsFinder coach, will help us interpret the results. You will learn about how to access the Google Drive files for your committee/working group, walk through the website and learn how to access resources, and find out how to be reimbursed for presbytery business as appropriate. We are introducing volunteer guidelines and resources we are excited to share.
