Description
This series of six 90-minutes live webinars will begin cultivating shared language and shared frameworks among Teaching Elder Commissioners (TEC) and Ruling Elder Commissioners (REC). Each webinar will feature 60 minutes of content followed by a 30-minutes Q&A period and will be delivered on Crossroads’ Zoom Webinar platform.
Webinar 1: What is systemic racism? (JAN 20th from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm PT)
Webinar 2: What is white supremacy? & What are its values? (FEB 3rd from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm PT)
The objective of the first two webinars is to offer TEC and REC a foundational framework which will equip them to more effectively talk about systemic racism and white supremacy in their ministry context.
Webinar 3: How does the church uphold white dominant values that undermine racial justice? (FEB 17th from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm PT)
Webinar 4: Why must Christians be equipped to speak against white supremacy? (MAR 3rd from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm PT)
The objective of webinars three and four is to demonstrate to TEC and REC how they can apply a race equity lens to their ministry as a way of revealing the ways white dominant ideas and values are embedded in the church and to make the case for why the church must equip Christians to speak against white supremacy.
Webinar 5: What is antiracism and what does it require of Christians? (MAR 17th from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm PT)
Webinar 6: Why must Christians invest in the cultivation of values that challenge white supremacy? (MAR 31st from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm PT)
The objective of webinars five and six is to help to TEC and REC understand what antiracism is, how it is related to the Matthew 25 vision to which Presbyterians are called.
